Shanice Stephenson is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA), Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist-Associate (LCAS-A) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) in North Carolina. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Elizabeth City State University and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a dual certification in Addiction Studies from North Carolina Central University in August 2019.
Shanice’s counseling work has primary focus on individuals from a variation of diverse backgrounds in both residential and outpatient capacities drawing from techniques depending on the mental health needs and life concerns of the client. Her therapeutic approach to counseling is an integrative method striving to balance mindful awareness, a genuine and empathetic relationship with the client, a conceptual approach to help clients to find meaning and value in their lives and a collaborative effort at identifying what changes a client can make to minimize emotional and behavioral disturbances. The collaborative approach Shanice takes focuses on developing an egalitarian relationship between counselor and client to facilitate dialogues of positive change. Shanice strives to reach mutual understanding, improve communication and explore different perspectives of conflict.
